You will meet our team carrying your name placard at the Airport Gate and the team will then drive you to Thimphu, one of the few cities in Bhutan. Drive to Thimphu is a drive through bare scenic mountains with old monasteries. One such is a Tachog Lhakhang connected by an iron chain bridge (14th century old but renovated) and if time permits, you may get to visit the famous bridge.
Evening: check in to hotel, relax for time and then have dinner, overnight in Thimphu.
Morning: visit key sites in Thimphu.
Memorial Chorten: The Memorial Chorten was built in 1974 in memory of the third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk (1928 – 1972), who is often referred to as the “Father of Modern Bhutan.”
Buddha Dordenma: The statue stands at 54 meters (177 feet), making it one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. It has become a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists and a popular tourist attraction.
National Folk Heritage Museum: The National Folk Heritage Museum, also known as Phelchey Toenkhyim, is a significant cultural institution located in Thimphu, Bhutan. The museum was inaugurated by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk on July 28, 2001. The museum offers visitors a rich insight into Bhutanese rural life and heritage, depicting traditional lifestyles, cultural, and customs that have been preserved over centuries.
Afternoon: Drive to Punakha (2.5 – 3 hours’ drive).
Stoop at Dochula Pass for panoramic views.
Evening: Arrive in one of the hotels in Punakha, then have dinner and overnight there.
Morning: Attend the Punakha Tshechu festival. There you can observe the masked dances and rituals.
Afternoon: after lunch continue enjoying the festival.
Evening: explore Punakha town, then after dinner overnight in hotel.
Morning: visit Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful dzongs.
Afternoon: visit Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility temple).
Evening: Relax at the hotel or explore the local area.
Then overnight in Punakha.
Morning: Drive back to Paro (4-5 hour’s drive)
Afternoon: visit Paro Rinpung Dzong.
Evening: explore Paro town. Then have dinner at one of the local restaurants, Bhutanese dish if you prefer. Overnight in Paro.
Morning: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Monastery).
Afternoon: visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.
Evening: have a Leisure time in Paro. Have a farewell dinner one of the local restaurants of hotel, then last stay in hotel until next time.
Morning: Free time for last – minute shopping or sightseeing if time permits.
Afternoon: Transfer to Paro International Airport for departure.
